The flight, which took off on the 2nd of July was supposed to have a layover in Lucknow. However, because of poor management and organisation, the flight also had to stop in Delhi.

According to an article recently published by the DailyO, the flight was supposed to take off at 4:45 PM. However, it got delayed by two and a half hours and took off at 7:22 PM. It landed in Lucknow around 9 PM at which point it was revealed that the pilot was tired.

Flight Routed To Delhi Due To Absence Of Replacement

After waiting at the Delhi airport for quite some time, the replacement finally arrived and around 3 AM on the 3rd of July, the flight finally reached its destination in Chennai. Multiple people took to venting their frustration on Twitter.

The reason that the pilot refused to take the flight to its destination was that as per the DGCA, pilots could only fly up to a certain period of time without sleeping, after which, rest is mandatory. This particular pilot’s shift had gone on for so long that it violated this DGCA mandate.
