This incident is not isolated. Hoax bomb threats have been on the rise, creating havoc and spreading fear across airports and other critical infrastructures. Just a few weeks prior, a staggering 41 airports, including those in Varanasi and Chennai, received bomb threats via email. Over the past few months, many more flights have been diverted due to fake bomb threats.

The repeated occurrence of such incidents not only disrupts flight schedules but also puts strain on resources and causes unnecessary distress to passengers. The Bureau of Civil Aviation Security (BCAS) has taken these threats seriously and proposed stringent measures to curb them. It will include a potential five-year flying ban for individuals found guilty of making hoax threats.

As of the latest update, all passengers of flight 6E 7308 were declared safe. The bomb threat was also determined to be a hoax. The authorities, however, continue to investigate the source of the threat, with hopes of identifying and apprehending the individual responsible. This incident highlights the challenges and threats faced by the aviation industry.
