A bomb threat on an IndiGo flight initiated a full-blown emergency at the Mumbai Airport on Sunday evening. A threat notice was found in the lavatory of an IndiGo flight (6E 5324), carrying 225 passengers from Jaipur (JAI) to Mumbai (BOM), and immediate safety procedures were initiated. As per the Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport (CSMIA), a full emergency was declared at 8:43 PM, after alerting the crew about the threat. Fortunately, the flight landed safely at 8:50 PM.
Emergency Steps Taken During IndiGo Bomb Threat At Mumbai Airport
The bomb threat on the IndiGo flight at Mumbai Airport resulted in quick action from the airline and CSMIA authorities. When the note was discovered, the flight crew alerted Mumbai ATC. They activated a high-level emergency protocol at the airport. Emergency vehicles, fire brigades, and security personnel were put on standby.
CSMIA, in a press release, confirmed, “A threat note was found on a plane en route from Jaipur to Mumbai. As a precautionary measure, a full emergency was declared at Mumbai Airport at 20:43 hours. The aircraft landed safely at 20:50 hours. Airport operations unaffected.”
The airport also stated that it is actively coordinating with the airline and relevant security agencies to investigate the source and authenticity of the threat. The security of passengers and staff remains a priority.

Passengers Safe, Flight Under Inspection
As reported by TOI, all the passengers were safely escorted out of the plane and taken for regular security screening. The authorities later ordered a thorough check of the plane. No suspicious object has been discovered yet.
CSMIA wished to reassure everyone that although the threats of such a nature are taken seriously, strong security systems have been put in place to address them effectively. The IndiGo flight in question has been moved to a secure bay, and further analysis are underway.
Passengers should face no significant delays as the issue was efficiently resolved. There has been a slight increase in security at the airport as a precautionary measure.
