IndiGo Flight Takes A Mid-Air U-Turn To Chennai As Pilot Detects Technical Issue After Take-Off

On Friday, an IndiGo flight to Madurai was forced to return to Chennai after encountering a mid-air technical issue. As per airport officials, 30 minutes after take-off, the pilot detected a technical snag and sought permission to fly back and land at the Chennai airport.

Madurai-Bound IndiGo Flight Returns To Chennai

According to The Times of India, the Madurai-bound IndiGo flight was carrying 68 passengers when the pilot detected a technical snag mid-air, prompting a return to Chennai. Thankfully, all the passengers were safely deplaned. Reports suggest that the flight was only half an hour into the air when the pilot suspected some issue and asked to return to the origin airport. So far, IndiGo has not released any statement on this incident.

In a separate incident, on Thursday, an IndiGo flight from Kolkata to Northeast was delayed due to technical issues. IndiGo flight 6E 487, with 155 passengers, from Kolkata to Silchar returned to the ramp after a technical snag in the Airbus A320 aircraft.

Air India Cancels Flight After Bird Hit

India’s aviation industry woes don’t seem to be ending any time soon! Besides the IndiGo flight returning to Chennai due to technical issues, a Pune to Delhi Air India flight was cancelled today due to a bird hit. According to Mint, the flight, scheduled for June 20, was cancelled after the aircraft suffered a bird hit during its inbound journey.

Air India is offering refunds on cancellations and complimentary rescheduling to the affected passengers. The airline has also made alternate arrangements to fly the passengers to Delhi. Furthermore, accommodations are also being arranged for the stranded passengers.

In a statement, Air India said, “Flight AI2470 scheduled to operate from Pune to Delhi on 20 June has been cancelled due to a bird hit which was detected after the incoming flight landed safely in Pune.”
