It seems that every other day, there is some new incident involving an airline. Today’s incident involves IndiGo. IndiGo lost a checked-in bag of a passenger on a domestic flight. What made the incident even worse was the fact that the passenger had items worth ₹45,000 in the bag. And not just that, he also had important documents like his driver’s license in the bag. His friend made a post about it.

According to an article which was recently published by Moneycontrol, this incident took place during the Microsoft Power Outage owing to a faulty update by CrowdStrike. In a post on X (formerly known as Twitter), a friend of the flyer narrated exactly what happened.

He said that on a domestic IndiGo flight from Kolkata to Guwahati, the airline lost their friend Monik Sharma’s bag containing items worth ₹45,000. It also contained important documents like a driver’s license, PAN and Aadhaar Card, and more.

Around a month later, the airline offered ₹2,450 as compensation for the loss of the baggage. The post also cited a rule that said that airlines were only liable to pay ₹350 per kilo of the bag in case they lose it. Many people then corrected the person saying that the rule was for cargo flights and not passenger flights.

This Is How The Netizens Reacted To The Situation

Many people took to the comments section to point out that one should never pack valuables and documents in checked-in luggage as it is risky. Many even pointed out that the airlines also actively discourage people from putting valuables in checked-in luggage.

However, there were many commenters who sympathised with the passenger. In a follow-up post, the person specified that IndiGo is looking into the matter further and may be able to give better compensation.
