IndiGo To Dispatch Relief Aircraft To Bring Back Stranded Passengers
According to NDTV, thousands of passengers are still affected by technical issues faced by two IndiGo flights–Istanbul-Delhi and Istanbul-Mumbai. In the past two days, these flights were delayed and eventually cancelled without arrangements for an alternative flight or accommodation for the flyers. Reportedly, several other flights on this route were also delayed. This caused fliers to miss onward flights with Turkish Airlines, with whom IndiGo has a codeshare.
Now, as per reports, IndiGo will fly a relief aircraft to bring the fliers back in around 20 hours. IndiGo flies Boeing 777 aircraft on the Istanbul-India route. This plane can seat over 500 passengers. In a statement issued by the airline, they mentioned that the Istanbul-Delhi 6E12 flight passengers were accommodated on other aircraft to their destinations. They further mentioned that the stranded flyers were provided hotels to stay in, depending on their e-visas to enter Turkey.
The Indian Embassy in Istanbul also mentioned that they were in touch with airlines and stranded passengers. They also ensured that the passengers were now provided with lounge, stay, and food facilities.
