In an exciting development for the residents of Indore, a double-decker bus will soon grace the city’s roads for the first time in history, marking a significant milestone in public transportation. This ambitious initiative is spearheaded by Mayor Pushyamitra Bhargava. The launch will make Indore the first tier-two city in India to boast a double-decker bus service.
Indore Gears Up For First-Ever Double-Decker Bus
The much-anticipated bus has officially arrived in Indore, bringing with it a wave of enthusiasm among locals. According to the Indian Express, the mayor expressed his excitement, stating, “After long-standing efforts, we have successfully brought the double-decker bus to Indore. The wait is over for the city residents.” This sentiment resonates with many who have been eagerly anticipating the arrival of this unique mode of transport.
The double-decker bus, measuring approximately 9 meters in length and towering at about 15 feet high, is designed to accommodate up to 60 passengers at a time. This capacity will not only help ease congestion but also enhance the overall travel experience for residents as they navigate the bustling streets of Indore.
According to the Indian Express, the bus service will be managed by Atal Indore City Transport Services Limited (AICTSL). Before the bus is officially launched, it will undergo trial runs to determine the most effective routes, ensuring that it serves the needs of commuters effectively.
It Is A First For Tier-Two Cities
Mayor Bhargava highlighted the significance of this project, noting that Indore will become the first tier-two city in India to introduce a double-decker bus service. This not only positions Indore as a progressive urban centre but also reflects the city’s commitment to enhancing its public transportation network.
The introduction of the double-decker bus is set to bring about transformative changes in how residents experience urban mobility. With the potential for increased passenger capacity and a unique vantage point from the upper deck, the bus promises to provide a new perspective on the city.
This initiative not only symbolises a leap towards modern urban transport but also serves as a testament to Indore’s growth and innovation in the public transport sector.
