India’s Most Expensive Train Journeys With Deccan Odyssey

Deccan Odyssey, a partnership between the Indian Railway and the State Government of Maharashtra, was first introduced in 2005 with the goal of encouraging tourism in Maharashtra. It departs from Mumbai, travels on six itineraries, and offers visitors a glimpse into the state’s rich cultural legacy.

Our anchor, Sarah Gadhvi, gave us a glimpse of this exciting, royal, and super luxurious journey in a recent video. The train looks like a royal blue chariot from the outside, and it has 16 coaches.

She took us inside the most expensive room in the train, the Presidential Suite. The room costs around ₹10 lakh and gives you all the important modern facilities. This room is actually the true jewel of this train, with wooden interiors and various amenities.

The deluxe suite of Deccan Odyssey is the next, and it costs ₹6.5 lakhs. The magnificent king-size bed in this accommodation encourages you to unwind in the lap of luxury after a day of discovering India’s wonders.

To provide you with 5-star treatment, the Deccan Odyssey and the Taj Group of Hotels have partnered. With so many luxurious amenities available, the Deccan Odyssey stands out for its 21 coaches that house 2 restaurants, a bar lounge, a mini-gym, a conference room, and an ayurvedic spa.

After being shut for 3.5 years, this luxury train—actually a 5-star hotel on wheels—has now resumed its services. The Deccan Odyssey’s coaches are each based on a different Maharashtrian regal era, commemorating the various dynasties that once dominated the area.
