International Travellers Arriving At Chandigarh Airport To Undergo Thermal Screening For COVID-19

India is seeing an increase in COVID-19 cases, and the JN.1 subvariant is contributing to the spike in infections this time around. According to the health ministry, there were 4,170 coronavirus cases active as of Tuesday. In the wake of the situation, many states and cities are issuing guidelines for the same. According to recommendations released by the ministry of health and family welfare, all foreign travellers arriving at Chandigarh’s Shaheed Bhagat Singh International Airport will undergo a COVID-19 thermal screening.

According to the decree, the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare has released “Guidelines for International Arrivals” in light of the COVID-19 epidemic and has periodically revised them. The current guidelines are being revised in response to the global decline of COVID-19 cases. 

This outlines the procedures that foreign visitors must follow as well as the points of entry at airports. It is recommended that all travellers have a full series of vaccinations against COVID-19 in accordance with their nation’s primary immunisation schedule.

Information regarding the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, including the precautionary measures to be followed (such as wearing masks and physically separating from other passengers), will be announced during flights and at all points of entry in Chandigarh airport.

Symptomatic Passenger Will Be Immediately Isloated

Any passenger exhibiting symptoms during travel will be isolated according to standard protocol, meaning that they will be kept apart from other passengers during flight or travel and transferred to an isolation facility for further treatment. 

Upon arrival at the Chandigarh international airport, de-boarding will be completed while maintaining physical distance, and all passengers will undergo thermal screening conducted by health officials present at the point of entry. Any passenger found to be symptomatic during screening will be immediately isolated. They will be taken to a designated facility according to the health protocol.  (As Per The Times Of India)

A 43-year-old lady from Sector 43 tested positive for COVID-19, marking the first instance of the virus to be reported in Chandigarh in 35 days. In Chandigarh, a positive case was last recorded on November 18.
