A major section of the Indian population relies on the Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC) to book tickets. A busy Monday morning turned out to be a misery for many users as IRCTC faced a major outage with people unable to log in to the website or the app and book their online tickets. Many people raised the significant issue and reported this technical inconvenience on social media.
IRCTC’s Online Ticket Booking Platform Experienced An Outage This Morning
A report by The Financial Express stated that the platform’s official website was down due to maintenance activity. IRCTC website mentioned that the e-ticketing service would not be available for an hour. Users were advised to call customer care at 14646, 0755-6610661, and 0755-4090600 for any cancellation or filing of TDR. In addition to customer care numbers, users were asked to mail at etickets@irctc.co.in.
A huge number of users encountered problems while trying to access the IRCTC website and mobile application. The outage exceeded so much that many looked for different online platforms to book tickets. This unexpected incident angered many users too. Social media platforms are flooded with Netizens complaining about the IRCTC outage reported on Monday.
As per multiple reports, people began facing this technical issue at around 10 AM today. Since then, many have come across several difficulties such as not being able to log in to the platform, book tickets, know train ticket costs, and check train departure timings.

Downdetector Shared Necessary Details About Users’ Experiences
Downdetector, an online service specialising in overview outages and evaluating signals, shared how users encountered different experiences due to the IRCTC outage. About 51 per cent of users failed to log in to the website. Around 40 per cent of IRCTC users had problems while trying to use the app. The rest of the 9 per cent of users faced troubles trying to book tickets on the platform. They were unable to book tickets for their train journeys, according to a report by News18.
