Ireland is a beautiful country with rich folklore and a distinctive culture. In order to preserve a part of this unique culture, the government of Ireland has taken a few steps to ensure the sustainability of its communities. Our Living Islands Policy can be seen as a similar attempt. The policy is intended to preserve, sustain, and ensure the continuation of the population on its islands. This particular country is paying people to move to one of its islands. As part of its Our Living Islands Policy, Ireland is paying €80,000 (₹71,00,000 approx.) to people to move to their offshore Island communities. The telos behind this move is to ensure the continuation of these island communities.

According to an article recently published by the Hindustan Times, the application for the scheme will be available from the 1st of July. However, things are not as simple as just moving there and rolling in dough. There are certain conditions that applicants must fulfil in order to qualify for the scheme.

Essentially, the government of Ireland intends to use the money for redeveloping dilapidated properties. Hence, one of the primary conditions to qualify for this scheme is that you must own a property on one of the islands and that property should have been made before 1993.

As mentioned above, in order to avail of this scheme, you must own a property on one of the islands that were constructed before 1993. Additionally, the property must also be vacant for at least two years.

According to an article recently published by Time Out, the scheme is more than just a redevelopment scheme. It aims to resuscitate and breathe new life into the infrastructure of the Islands.
