The world’s most beloved cape crusader, Superman, is set to ignite our movie screens again on July 11, this time with the James Gunn directorial, starring Nicholas Hoult, Rachel Brosnahan, and David Corenswet. Ahead of the film’s release, Londoners spotted America’s heartthrob in their city. Specifically, hovering 1000 feet high over The Shard.

Superman Flies To London; Spotted Hovering Above The Shard

Taking to his X (formerly Twitter) handle, director James Gunn had the sweetest surprise for superhero nerds that would get their spirits high. Literally! A series of photos posted by Gunn shows Superman in his signature red-blue costume, flying above The Shard in London. Taking a break from fighting villains, and protecting the USA, the superhero was seen posing over the 72-storey pyramid-shaped skyscraper.

Much to the surprise of officegoers, Superman greeted them from the sky, poised and stoic. Taking the press tour and promotion for the James Gunn-directorial to new heights, a 3.5-metre tall Superman sculpture was installed on the exposed spire of London’s tallest landmark.

120 Kg Sculpture Part Of The Film’s ‘Larger Than Life’ Promo Campaign

As per an article by The Independent, the model weighs 120 kg and was created by a team of over 20 people from the 3D Eye production house. The Director and Head of Production at 3D Eye, Fred Tucker, threw more light on it to The Independent. He stated that the sculpture has been metal tested and even assessed by a structural engineer before it was suspended over The Shard.

The literal ‘Man of Steel’ proved that just like the 120 kg sculpture hovering 1000 feet high in the sky, the movie is also touted to be ‘larger than life’. On July 1, Superman cast Nicholas Hoult, Rachel Brosnahan, and David Corenswet visited The Shard in London to witness the installation for themselves. They also sportingly snapped selfies atop the skyscraper.
