We come bearing wonderful news! It is a proud moment for us to share that the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) achieved a historical milestone by docking SpaDeX satellites in space. On Thursday, the Indian space agency gained success in completing the docking of two Indian satellites. Our scientists succeeded in attaining this pivotal accomplishment in their fourth attempt.

ISRO Docked SpaDeX Satellites In Space On Thursday Morning

It took days for the team of scientists to perfectly wrap up the procedure of docking SpaDeX satellites in space. As a part of the Space Docking Experiment, the satellites were brought close to each other during the trial methods. They were introduced about 3 metres close to each other. With the successful docking of SpaDeX satellites, ISRO created history and witnessed a spectacular triumph in our country’s space missions.

At 10:04 AM on Thursday, ISRO shared successful updates about docking SpaDeX satellites. Taking to the X platform, ISRO announced, “Spacecraft docking successfully completed! A historic moment.” Taking Netizens through the SpaDeX docking process, the space agency updated the completion status of the manoeuvre to a distance of 15 metres to 3 metres hold point.

Next, docking was initiated with precision leading to a successful spacecraft capture. The retraction was completed smoothly with rigidisation for stability. With this, ISRO was successful in docking the Indian satellites in space and achieving an exceptional feat.

ISRO conducted multiple trials for the entire docking procedure. The team worked on the last attempt on January 12, 2025. According to a report by NDTV, India used the Bhartiya Docking System for this recent achievement.
