Ed Sheeran is currently in India for his Mathematics tour, and it’s safe to say his fans are having the time of their lives! During his Chennai concert on Wednesday, the man gave his fans an unexpected surprise. Ed Sheeran was joined on stage by legendary musician AR Rahman, and the duo belted out an amazing mashup of Ed’s Shape of You and Rahman’s Urvasi Urvasi.
AR Rahman Jams With Ed Sheeran During Chennai Concert
If you thought Diljit Dosanjh’s surprise entry during Ed Sheeran’s Mumbai concert last year was the best collaboration ever, then this one will delight you to no extent! On Wednesday, during his concert in Chennai, Ed Sheeran welcomed Oscar-winning composer AR Rahman on stage and as you can expect, the crowd went berserk!
While performing his hit number ‘Shape of You’, Ed welcomed Rahman on stage, and the duo sang a beautiful mashup by combining it with Rahman’s classic Urvasi Urvasi. AR Rahman sang the chorus of the song and added some high notes as well and the fans were left mesmerised.
Sharing the video of the performance on Instagram, Ed wrote, “What an honour @AR Rahman.” Thousands of fans of both musicians commented and expressed their joy at seeing them perform together. Some even called the Cheenai crowd lucky to witness the collaboration live!
Ed’s India Tour & Adventures So Far
Ed Sheeran kicked off the long-awaited Indian leg of his Mathematics Tour in Pune on January 30. The tour will span six cities and conclude on February 15, 2025, in Delhi NCR at Leisure Valley Ground. After Pune, Hyderabad, and Chennai, he will be performing in Bengaluru, Shillong, and Delhi-NCR.
Ed has been sharing his Indian adventures on Instagram. In the video, he is seen singing his popular number “Perfect” with the students of AR Rahman’s KM College of Music & Technology. In another hilarious video shared by his team, Ed Sheeran is seen getting a head massage in Chennai.
