It’s 1 April and companies in the UAE have taken full advantage of the day to fool their customers. If you’ve hovered around social media anytime during the day, you might have seen these and jumped in joy (at least for a brief moment).
Here’s how UAE’s top three brands engaged users with their timely pranks.
1. Emirates
National carrier Emirates tweeted that passengers can fly on chauffeur-less drones in Dubai from April 2020. And staying true to their luxury status, the brand also added that each drone features two fully-enclosed First Class private suites.
Fly on our chauffeur-less drones between any location in Dubai and @DXB, from April 2020. Each drone features two fully-enclosed First Class private suites. Our new drone airport transfer service will be offered to all Emirates Skywards Platinum members. #FlyEmiratesFlyBetter pic.twitter.com/s35dNg89jz

And a few customers also realized it was a prank. Take a look at the tweets:
Dear @emirates, celebrating April 1 in advance?

2. Deliveroo
Popular food delivery app announced a ban on pizza curst after anti-crust feedback from customers. They further added that the crust cut will begin from 1 April on their app. Clearly, this was only a prank and users understood it too.
3. Namshi
Online shopping giant Namshi, announced a faster delivery option- ‘The Falcon Express’. The new carrier will deliver goods three hours of placing an order on 1 April 2019. The brand later carried a clarification on their website today. The message read – ‘Although Habibi and friends won’t be joining our delivery team, you can still get your parcel quickly thanks to our super speedy crew. Same great service, less feathers!’
