His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum is the third son of Sheikh Rashid bin Saeed Al Maktoum who was the Ruler of Dubai and Head of the Maktoum Dynasty from 1958 till 1990. Yes, he was born in Al Shindagha, which was where the family home was situated in the year 1949. It’s worth mentioning that Sheikh Mohammed has achieved many firsts, which include being the youngest defence minister at the age of 21. He finished his secondary education in Dubai, after which he studied English in Cambridge, England. Later, the Ruler of Dubai received military training at Mons Officer Cadet School – Aldershot.

- He began his primary education in the year 1955 at Al Ahmadiya School in Diera.

- He is the youngest defence minister in the world and was appointed the Dubai Police and Public Security force head in 1968.
- Following the death of his elder brother Sheikh Maktoum bin Rashid Al Maktoum, the then-ruler of Dubai, Sheikh Mohammad took over as the ruler of Dubai in 2006.
Sheik Mohammed is a horseman and he has also learnt falconry and hunting from an early age.
