“It’s Unethical To Make Passengers Sit On Bad Seats,” Shivraj Singh Chouhan Slams Air India For Broken Seat; Airline Responds

On Saturday, Union Agriculture Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan put out a blazing post on X (formerly Twitter) slamming Air India. The minister stated that the airline allotted him a “broken” seat on a flight from Bhopal to Delhi. Chouhan called it unethical to make passengers sit on bad and uncomfortable seats.

Shivraj Singh Chouhan’s Scathing Post Against Air India

Bad reviews and scathing posts are unfortunately not uncommon for Air India. Earlier, Grammy-winning music composer Ricky Kej slammed the airline for its rude ground staff and incessant delays while he was paying for his excess baggage. Now, Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan narrated his untoward experience with the airline.

He revealed that he was flying from Bhopal to Delhi to inaugurate the Kisan Mela in Pusa. The minister had purchased a ticket on Air India flight number AI436. The airline allotted him seat number 8C for his travel. When Chouhan sat on his seat, he realised it was broken and sunken. He found it uncomfortable to sit for awhile let alone the entirety of the flight.

On enquiring with the airline staff about the reason the seat was allotted despite being broken, they replied that the management was aware of the situation. In fact it was not just seat 8C but many other seats which faced a similar fate. Yet, the management continued allotting the “broken” seats to passengers.

Had No Choice But To Travel On Broken

Chouhan’s co-passengers graciously asked him to exchange his seat with them. But the Union Agriculture Minister didn’t want to inconvenience other passengers. So, he decided to complete the journey on the same broken seat. Chouhan revealed that he was under the misconception that Air India’s service had improved after the Tata takeover. The minister blasted the airline in his post and asked, “Isn’t this cheating the passengers?”

Air India responded to his post and apologised to him for the inconvenience caused. They assured him that they would closely look into the matter to avoid such issues. Meanwhile, Netizens shared their airline woes in the comments section as well.

Have you ever faced an awful flying experience with Air India?
