The Tamil Film industry is in shock after getting the news of G Marimuthu passing away. The 56-year-old director and actor was a well-known name for everyone and had worked in several films, including Jailer, the Rajnikant-starrer.

Jailer Actor G Marimuthu Passed Away While Dubbing For A TV Show!

Actor-Director G Marimuthu passed away today after he collapsed while dubbing for a television show. According to reports, G Marimuthu passed out on Friday morning at about 8.30 am in Chennai while doing the dubbing for his TV show ‘Ethirneechal’. He was taken to a neighbouring hospital where doctors there declared him dead, according to a tweet from Johnson, a public relations specialist employed for the South’s film industry.

His performance in several notable films and television shows made him famous. He has also served as an assistant director for several directors, including Mani Ratnam.

He not only directed films but also acted in TV shows and contributed to more than 50 films. G Marimuthu relocated to Chennai in 1990 from his birthplace of Pasumalaitheri in Theni with aspirations of becoming a film director.

He Started As A Waiter In Hotels

He started as a waiter in hotels, but after meeting the lyricist Vairamuthu, he ultimately got a job as Rajkiran’s assistant director on films like Aranmanai Kili (1993) and Ellame En Rasathan (1995). As an assistant director, he went on to work with notable directors like Mani Ratnam, Vasanth, Seeman, and SJ Surya. Additionally, he co-directed Silambarasan’s Manmadhan.

In 2008, Prasanna and Udhayathara starred in the romance drama Kannum Kannum, which was directed by G. Marimuthu. Despite the film’s poor box office results, it received positive reviews. People from the film industry have been expressing their condolences on his demise.

Actor Prasanna Venkatesan posted a tweet on X stating that he is deeply shattered after hearing the news of G Marimuthu’s demise. In fact, he had worked with him on 2 films and they had a brotherly bond. The entire industry is in shock after his sudden death and fans across the country are also expressing their condolences.
