Dr Jane Goodall is known for her incredible discovery back in 1960, wherein she discovered how chimpanzees make use of tools. Till date, it is considered one of her greatest achievements of the 20th century scholarship. And now, her famous Jane Goodall’s Pollinator Garden, which is a powerful symbol of how we guide Earth towards a healthy future has now opened in Dubai. Here’s all about it.
Jane Goodall’s Pollinator Garden Opens At Terra
Jane Goodall’s Pollinator Garden has finally opened right here in Dubai Expo City. Yes, open at Terra, this is a one-of-a-kind pollinator garden, which is basically an ecological sanctuary. The global conservationist Dr Jane Goodall is behind this initiative. In fact, it was also announced that a hundred hives will be launched and these will be sent to a hundred schools across the UAE. As a result, students will be given a hands-on learning experience about the important role that pollinators play in our environment.
Why Is It Big News?
For those who are wondering, the pollinator garden has native plant species that are chosen for symbiotic relationships with the pollinator. Not to mention, it’s a heaven for local wildlife, which includes bees, birds, and butterflies. So, with the new pollinator garden open at Terra, one can be assured that it will not only be working towards the betterment of the bee population but even spread awareness about their important role in the environment.

Nurturing Native Bees
As reported by the Gulf News, it reflects the ongoing commitment towards fostering sustainability. Not to mention, it is also in line with Dubai’s leadership in championing conservation. It’s worth mentioning that the journey of the garden began in 2019 when a small hive of 2000 UAE native apis mellifera bees was discovered. Thereafter, the Beekeepers Foundation worked closely to nurture these bees, which were later reintroduced to the garden in October 2024. Now the population has grown to more than 30,000 bees across two thriving hives. These hives are integrated into Terra’s pollinator-friendly ecosystem.
