Japanese Envoy Tries Bihar’s Famous Litti-Chokha, Says “Gazab Swad Ba”!

People always say that trying local cuisines is the best way to embrace the place you’re visiting. It looks like Japan’s Ambassador to India and Bhutan, Keiichi Ono, follows the same philosophy! During his recent visit to Bihar, he tried and loved Bihar’s iconic dish, litti chokha. He even took to X (formerly Twitter) to show his appreciation.

Japanese Ambassador Loving Bihar’s Litti-Chokha

Keiichi Ono, the Japanese envoy serving in India and Bhutan, has won over the hearts of desi netizens after posting a photo of himself savouring Bihar’s famous litti chokha on X. In a now-viral post, he shared a picture of eating the famous dish and called the local delicacy “world-famous”.

He further declared in Bhojpuri, “Gajab swad ba”, which translates to “great taste.” His use of the local dialect and willingness to try local dishes like litti chokha garnered a lot of attention and people online loved his way to culturally connect with a place through food.

In another post on X, the Japanese ambassador shared that he visited the Bihar National Highway Improvement Project with the Commissioner of the Japan Tourism Agency. He added that the project is “expected to greatly reduce travel time within the state and contribute significantly to its tourism and economy.”
