The much-anticipated Kailash Manasarovar Yatra, which had been paused for five years, is set to resume in 2025. As reported by the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA), the yatra will once again be accessible to Indian pilgrims, this time via the Lipulekh Pass in Uttarakhand. The authorities have released detailed information on the dates, route, and registration process for this sacred journey, allowing devotees to begin preparing for their pilgrimage to the revered Kailash Mountain.

According to the official announcement, the Kailash Manasarovar Yatra will commence on June 1, 2025. The pilgrimage is expected to continue until the end of September 2025. Interested pilgrims can begin registering for the yatra through the MEA’s online portal. As reported by the Ministry, registrations are on a first-come, first-served basis, and pilgrims must meet health and physical fitness criteria to participate.

The journey will be conducted in batches, with each batch consisting of approximately 50 pilgrims. Applicants must provide a valid Indian passport and undergo a mandatory health screening before final selection. The Ministry has also emphasised that only those who meet specific medical standards will be allowed to join the yatra.

The Lipulekh Route Is A New Route For Pilgrims

This year, the Lipulekh Pass in Uttarakhand will serve as the exclusive route for the Kailash Manasarovar Yatra. As reported by the government, the traditional Nathu La and Nepal routes remain closed due to operational reasons. The Lipulekh route, however, offers a smooth and scenic passage for pilgrims, starting from Pithoragarh and moving on to Gunji before crossing into Tibet.

Pilgrims will have the opportunity to experience breathtaking views of the majestic Himalayas as they make their way to the sacred Kailash Mansarovar Lake. The entire journey is known for its spiritual significance, as well as its physical challenges, which is why proper preparation and training are essential.

How To Register And What To Expect

To register for the Kailash Manasarovar Yatra, pilgrims must visit the official MEA website and complete the necessary application process. They will need to provide personal details, health reports, and payment for the registration fee. A second round of medical checks will take place at Delhi Heart and Lung Institute and ITBP Hospital in Delhi, ensuring that only those fit for the high-altitude journey are selected.

Given the challenging terrain and altitude of the Lipulekh Pass, the Ministry will also provide training for all participants. According to the MEA, the training will help pilgrims prepare for the physical demands of the yatra, ensuring a safe and fulfilling experience.
