Kajol’s Social Media Advice To Nysa, ”People Will Talk About You Regardless Of What You Do”

Bollywood’s ever-charming, talkative, and fun-loving actress Kajol recently joined our Editor-in-Chief Kamiya Jani for a special episode of Sunday Brunch. The two met at Oh! Calcutta in Mumbai which is known for serving some of the best Bengali cuisine. The duo enjoyed some delicious Bengali dishes while chatting about life, films, family, and more. Kajol opened up about her recently released film ‘Maa’ and, in tune with its theme, she shared her thoughts on motherhood and her deep spiritual bond with Goddess Kali. She incorporates the teachings of Goddess Kali into raising her children. She also opened up about guiding them through challenges like social media negativity, a modern challenge many parents face today. Read on to know more about it.

Kajol’s Social Media Training For Nysa

Kajol believes that Maa Kali has the power to protect her children, and she follows the Goddess’s path by being fiercely protective towards her kids. While all mothers are naturally protective, Kajol highlights the importance of letting children grow. She said, “We’ve to expose them to the world and let them fall and let them find their strengths.” If a mother constantly keeps her children under her wings, they won’t be able to deal with the world on their own.

As a public figure, Kajol’s children also receive major social media attention. In today’s age of social media trolls, judgmental comments, and widespread negativity online, Kamiya asked how she handles it when her kids face such situations. Kajol replied, “Of course, you get angry, you get upset, but I have told Nysa that you have to know what you’re doing. People will talk about you regardless of what you do. Aap sahi karo, galat karo, aap mandir jao, club jao, dono taraf aapko koi na koi burai milni hi hai.” She believes one shouldn’t take social media too seriously or get consumed by it. Over time, Kajol feels both her children have learnt how to handle the social attention and navigate it wisely.

A Thoughtful Advice For Every Parent

In today’s generation, kids rarely open up to their parents. So, when a child chooses to share things with their mother, it’s one of the biggest achievements. Kajol believes that children will open up if you simply listen to them without judging or reacting. She said, “They don’t want you to do anything. I realised it with Nysa that she doesn’t want me to try, she just wants me to be there and hear her out.”

Although it’s difficult for a parent to just sit and listen without getting involved, Kajol believes that you can’t always protect your child. Instead, parents need to prepare them for whatever they are going to see and face in the world.
