Karishma Tanna, a true blue Gujju, tied the knot with Mangalorean, Varun Bangera a few years back. So, what do the Sunday brunch scenes at the Tanna-Bangera household look like now? Well, surprisingly, it’s mostly dosas and idlis, and no, it’s not by Varun’s choice!

“I can eat South Indian food every day! Shaadi ke phele bhi, my mom used to make idli, dosa, or anything South Indian at least twice a week. I love South Indian food. In fact, Varun is often like every Sunday idli-dosa banta hai, what is this? Give me something else,” she shared.

She further added that she, her mother, and her mother-in-law love eating dosas and idlis and Sundays are fixed for South Indian food at their home. We couldn’t help but ask if Karishma Tanna had introduced any Gujarati dishes to her husband Varun and she said, “He is more of a Gujarati than me! He grew up in a Gujarati society and had lots of Gujarati friends. He even knows how to speak Gujarati and loves Gujju food.”

Karishma Tanna is a foodie at heart. “I love cooking and I love eating Gujju food. I just love food! Mujhe bas khaana de do, main khush ho jaati hun,” she shared. She further added that she loves cheese, potatoes, and fries. However, she has now lowered her cheese consumption. She explained that over the last two years, she has stopped consuming dairy products. The reason for this is her love for animals and her belief that dairy is not good for your health.

Despite this dietary restriction, she adds, “Main vada pav bhi khaati hun, raaste ka pani puri bhi khaati hun, main pav bhaji bhi khaati hun, pizza bhi khaati hun, main sab khaati hun.”
