The Mangaluru water metro project will provide water-based public transport across several key locations in the city. According to Deccan Herald, the proposed route will connect points like Bangra Kuloor, NITK Beach, Sultan Battery, and the city centre, offering a scenic and quicker mode of travel.

Managed by the Karnataka Coastal Development Authority, the project will use battery-powered ferries, contributing to reduced vehicular emissions. These ferries will run at regular intervals and are expected to complement the city’s existing road-based public transport.
