It promises to transform the Karnataka Legislative Assembly into a dynamic celebration of literature, arts and gastronomy. Here are all of the other important details that you would need to know about Karnataka’s first book and cultural festival.
Karnataka Is Hosting Its First Book And Cultural Festival
According to an article that was recently published by the Hindustan Times or the HT, speaker UT Khader has unveiled plans for this groundbreaking event. The festival will seamlessly blend a literature festival, an extensive book fair and evening cultural performances.
Emphasising the pioneering nature of this initiative, Khader announced that a distinguished literary award would be presented during the festivities to honour excellence in the field. The book fair component will feature an impressive array of 150 stalls, with a strong focus on promoting regional literature.
Eighty per cent of the literary offerings will showcase Kannada works. The remaining selection will encompass English and other languages. In a move to nurture emerging talent, the festival will provide a platform for aspiring authors to launch their literary debuts.
Why Is This Cultural Festival So Noteworthy?
Literary enthusiasts can look forward to engaging directly with writers through interactive sessions strategically placed throughout the venue. These encounters will foster meaningful dialogue between authors and readers, enriching the cultural discourse.
The festival also incorporates an educational dimension through a noteworthy funding initiative. Legislators will have the opportunity to allocate between ₹2 and ₹3 lakh from their MLA Local Area Development funds towards the purchase of books.
This provision specifically targets government schools, colleges and public libraries within their constituencies. It reinforces the festival’s commitment to broader educational access.
