Nandi Hills is one of the most loved weekend getaway destinations near Bengaluru. The hill station blends natural beauty, colonial charm, and misty sunrises to offer the perfect breath of fresh air we all crave. Over the last few years, Nandi Hills has seen a surge in tourist numbers, and to cater to the growing demand, KSTDC is developing a new glass-walled restaurant there. Scroll on to know more about it.
Nandi Hills To Welcome A Glass-Walled Restaurant
According to The Hindu, to upgrade tourism infrastructure and cater to growing tourist numbers in Nandi Hills, KSTDC is all set to develop a new restaurant on top of the hill station, Mayura Sunrise. Chief Minister Siddaramaiah laid the foundation stone for this facility during a Cabinet session held there.
Some reports suggest that the restaurant will have glass walls, allowing diners to take in the picturesque hill town while eating. It will be a 200-seat restaurant and will be constructed on the site of an older KSTDC structure that has been demolished.
KSTDC already has Mayura Pine Top, a hotel and restaurant in Nandi Hills. Now, according to authorities, the rising tourist rush has outpaced its capacity and won’t be able to cater to the rising numbers. Thus, there is a need for a new restaurant in the hill station.

Tourism Surge In The Hills
The KSTDC data suggests a significant rise in tourist numbers in Nandi Hills in recent years. In 2023, around 19.48 lakh people visited the beautiful hill station. Last year, the numbers rose to 21.32 lakh. For 2025, the tourism body has projected that the footfall could reach 23.35 lakh. According to The Hindu report, growing at an estimated 9% annually, the numbers can climb to 31.98 lakh by 2028.
Media reports also indicate that the glass-walled restaurant is just one of many upgrades in store for Nandi Hills. Work on the long-awaited ropeway project is expected to begin soon. Additionally, to protect the fragile hilltop ecosystem, authorities are considering traffic restrictions, including limiting access for private vehicles.
