Karnataka Milk Federation (KMF) is launching its dairy products under the Nandini brand in Delhi on November 21. According to Moneycontrol, Karnataka CM Siddaramaiah will launch Nandini milk and curd products in the capital on Thursday. Besides Karnataka, Nandini products are available in Telangana, Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh, Kerala, Goa, and Maharashtra.

A senior KMF official told Moneycontrol that the brand has conducted several trial runs to check milk transportation from Mandya to Delhi. It took them 54 hours to cover the distance and they were successful in maintaining the milk quality throughout.

With this new launch, Nandini milk will compete with dairy brands like Mother Dairy, Amul, Madhusudan, and Namaste India in Delhi. To expand in the region, KMF recently floated a tender for the transportation of milk through insulated road tankers from the Mandya Milk Union to Delhi. Reportedly, KMF will use 2,190 tankers to transport milk to Delhi and surrounding areas, including parts of Haryana.

Apart from foraying into Delhi, Nandini will also be introducing idli and dosa batter in Bengaluru on November 26. It is to be noted that the instant batter market is already dominated by brands like iD, Asal, and MTR in the region. As per Moneycontrol, what sets Nandini’s batter apart is the presence of whey protein. This will help enhance flavour and texture. This batter will be available in a 900-gram pouch and can make up to 18 idlis or 12–14 dosas.
