On Saturday night, V. Somanna, the Minister of State for Railways, officially inaugurated the SMVT Bengaluru-Kalaburagi Vande Bharat Express, designated as train number 22232. The new service includes an additional stop at Yadgir, making it a pivotal link for the region. The train departs from Yadgir at 5:55 am, heading towards Bengaluru, and returns from Bengaluru at 9:44 pm, continuing its journey towards Kalaburagi. This schedule offers convenience for daily commuters and occasional travellers alike.
The introduction of the Vande Bharat Express to Yadgir has not only enhanced connectivity but also signalled a broader push towards improving the state’s railway infrastructure. Minister Somanna highlighted that the state government has allocated a substantial ₹2,900 crore for the upgrade of 59 railway stations across Karnataka. Specifically, Yadgir’s railway station is set to receive an investment of ₹7.5 crore for its development. Meanwhile, the nearby Kalaburagi station will see improvements worth ₹12.5 crore.
