Kashi Vishwanath Dham is one of the holy pilgrimage sites for devotees practising Hinduism. A temple dedicated to Lord Shiva in the ancient city of Varanasi in Uttar Pradesh, this sacred site is known for its extravagant Ganga aarti. Recently, Kashi Vishwanath Dham set a new record for the highest-ever footfall in the shrine on a non-festive day as six lakh devotees visited the Jyotirlinga shrine.
Kashi Vishwanath Dham Witnesses 6 Lakh Devotees On Sunday, Non-Festive Day
Kashi Vishwanath Dham in Varanasi, dedicated to Lord Shiva, recorded a whopping 95 lakh devotees in March 2024, a non-festive month. Over 6 lakh devotees headed to the Jyotirlinga on Sunday and set a new record for the highest-ever footfall on a non-festive day. Vidya Bhushan Mishra, Kashi Vishwanath Dham’s chief executive officer (CEO) revealed to news agencies about this new record.
The spokesperson stated that a total of 6,36,975 devotees headed to the temple on March 31, resulting in the highest-ever footfall the temple has witnessed on a non-festive day. In March 2023, 37,11,060 devotees visited the Kashi Vishwanath Dham to seek blessings from the divine. During festival months, the maximum number of devotees that visited the temple stood at 95,62,206 during Shravan (August 2023). Last month, the temple witnessed a whopping 95,63,432 devotees.

Before Revamp, The Temple Recorded 20,000 Visitors Per Day
While the temple welcomed 5,03,024 devotees in 24 hours on March 18, a non-festival day, the average footfall has tremendously increased post-January 31, 2024. It now stands at 1.5 lakh per day. Before the opening of the revamped Kashi Vishwanath Dham, the Jyotirlinga only witnessed around 20,000 devotees per day and around 2.5 lakh devotees on Maha Shivratri.

However, after the revamp, the temple shrine has now set a new record of 6 lakh devotees on Sunday, a non-festive day. It could also be accounted for the long weekend as Good Friday was a public holiday.
