All year round, Gulmarg and Kashmir remain a picture-perfect destination. During the winters, it transforms into an even more mesmerising canvas of white. Every nook and cranny of this picturesque paradise is adorned with a thick blanket of snow. Former Jammu and Kashmiri chief minister, Omar Abdullah also posted a video and a collection of pictures showcasing Kashmir’s stunning scenery.
Kashmir, Gulmarg Turn Into A Winter Wonderland
“Nothing like a late evening walk in Gulmarg. It’s as beautiful after sunset as it is during the day,” Omar Abdullah wrote on X. The images depict lighted houses in Kashmir that are blanketed with thick snow. A stroll through the snow-covered meadows reveals a world of untouched splendour.
Omar Abdullah tweeted, “When you start the day with views like these…” and included images. The photographs show snow-covered trees. That’s not all; he also shared a video of skiing in the snow. Against the backdrop of snow-capped peaks and towering conifers, skiing in Gulmarg becomes an immersive experience. The post attracted thousands of views and comments. People were in awe of the stunning scene.
Kashmir whispers a tale of timeless beauty. For in Gulmarg, amidst the snow-capped peaks and frost-covered valleys, one discovers not only the beauty of nature but gasps in wonder and awe.
Kashmir Faced Dry Winter On January
Abdullah shared photos of himself taken on January 6 in 2022 and 2023, noting that the lack of snow this year could entail a warm summer, in addition to the inability to ski. Locals have brought attention to the dry winter that the Himalayas are experiencing this year.
His post was one of many on social media highlighting below-average snowfall, which has upset tourists and locals. Because of the abnormally extended dry season, places that should have at least four to six feet of snow suddenly have very little. Following last November’s first winter precipitation, and in certain parts, the first few days of December, there has been no precipitation. The El Nino effect was being felt throughout the northwest Himalayas, resulting in an abnormally dry winter.
Thankfully now, snow seems to be back in regions of Kashmir and Gulmarg, leaving tourists in awe. The area’s natural beauty, coupled with the abundance of snow, is once again a picturesque winter wonderland.
