Kashmir Emerges As Top Spot For Big Fat Indian Weddings

As per a report by Kashmir Convener, the Union Territory is rapidly emerging as a top destination for weddings in India. The promotional efforts by the central government have borne fruit. Travel agents in Kashmir have witnessed a surge in enquiries for destination weddings. This highlights, the mountain destination’s growing appeal as a unique yet stunning venue for events.

During a rally in Srinagar, Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed his desire to position Kashmir as a marriage destination similar to Jodhpur and other parts of the country. Instead of splurging for weddings abroad, PM Modi encouraged Indians to choose Jammu and Kashmir for their destination wedding. Moreover, the Kashmir tourism department also started the ‘ India Says I Do Wedding’ campaign to promote the scenic destination as a gorgeous wedding venue.

A travel agent, Umer Ahmad Bhat stated to Kashmir News Observer (KNO) that they’ve received many enquiries about destination weddings in the valley. Like Jaipur, Goa and Kerala, destination weddings are also becoming a trend in Kashmir. Owing to Kashmir’s stunning beauty, delicious cuisine, pleasant weather and rich culture, Bhat says that there is no better place for a destination wedding than the valley.

Hoteliers Witness Surge In Enquiries

The government has propelled numerous initiatives to promote Kashmir as a viable tourist destination. This includes positioning Kashmir as a splendid spot for couples looking to tie the knot in a naturally blessed and culturally rich landscape.
