Uttarakhand and Himachal Pradesh are recording heavy rainfalls that are triggering landslides and floods across the region. As it happens, the IMD has predicted flash floods in some regions of Himachal Pradesh. On the other hand, the Kedarnath yatra has temporarily been suspended due to landslides on the route. Kedarnath Yatra Temporarily Suspended
Due to the landslide near Sonprayag at Munkatiya, which is en route to the Kedarnath Temple, pilgrimage has been temporarily suspended. The landslide occurred due to rain, which has completely blocked the road. With debris and stones blocking the way, the administration has stopped the yatra temporarily in Uttarakhand. As revealed in a report by Deccan Herald, pilgrims who were returning from Gaurikund were trapped in the sliding zones. However, they were later rescued by the State Disaster Response Force personnel. In fact, the Kedarnath yatra has been stopped for the time being as a precautionary measure to avoid any mishaps from taking place
Himachal Pradesh Also Reeling Under Heavy Rainfall
Not just Uttarakhand, but Himachal Pradesh is also reeling under a heavy spell of rainfall. As such, 34 people went missing after a cloudburst and heavy rain triggered massive landslides and flash floods. Rescuers continued their search operation for the missing people. The IMD has already predicted a moderate flash flood risk in the region of Kangra, Hamirpur, Shimla, Mandi, Sirmaur, and Solan.

Several People Affected By The Heavy Rains
As revealed in a report by the NDTV, the State Disaster Response Force team courageously carried a pregnant woman for miles to reach a hospital in Thunag area in Mandi district as heavy rains and broken roads continued to create hurdles. Due to the heavy rains, 148 houses, 14 bridges, and two shops have been washed away in the Mandi district. It has also resulted in 11 deaths. However, the report also stated that this death count can rise as the survival of missing people after more than 48 hours is quite dim.
