A day after the Airports Authority of India announced the reopening of 32 airports across northern and western India for civil flight operations, Air India and IndiGo announced flight cancellations to and from several cities for May 13. The airlines took to their social media to announce flight cancellations and issue travel advisories.
Air India Cancels Flights To & From 8 Locations
On Tuesday, Air India announced the cancellation of all flight operations to and from eight cities. These airports are Jammu, Leh, Jodhpur, Amritsar, Bhuj, Jamnagar, Chandigarh, and Rajkot. The cancellations are effective on May 13. Air India cited safety concerns as the primary reason for this abrupt cancellation of flights. This comes just a day after the resumption of civilian flights after a temporary shutdown that began on May 7.
The 32 airports that were temporarily shut down and subsequently reopened on May 11 included Srinagar, Jammu, Leh, Chandigarh, Amritsar, Bikaner, Hindon, Jaisalmer, Jodhpur, Kullu Manali, Rajkot, and Shimla, among others.

In the post on X (formerly Twitter), the airline said, “In view of the latest developments and keeping your safety in mind, flights to and from Jammu, Leh, Jodhpur, Amritsar, Bhuj, Jamnagar, Chandigarh and Rajkot are cancelled for Tuesday, 13th May.”

IndiGo Also Issues Travel Advisory For Several Cities
IndiGo also issued a similar travel advisory and cancelled two-way operations to Jammu, Amritsar, Chandigarh, Leh, Srinagar, and Rajkot for May 13. In a post on social media platform X, IndiGo said that passenger “safety remains its highest priority”. It advised passengers to check flight status before heading to the airport and check with their customer care, in case of any confusion.

People scheduled to fly to or from the aforementioned airports with Air India or IndiGo are strongly advised to check their flight status via the respective airline’s website or mobile application before heading to the airport. This will ensure a hassle-free and seamless travel experience.
