Kerala Set To Welcome 10 New Vande Bharat AKA Namo Bharat Trains With Fares Starting At ₹30; All About It

Trains are one of the primary modes of transportation used by people across India. Train connectivity is quite vast, as it covers almost every part of India. Kerala has taken a very thoughtful step to strengthen this connectivity and increase the accessibility to trains. 10 new Vande Bharat trains, branded as Namo Bharat, will be introduced in Kerala in order to improve intercity connectivity and encourage sustainable tourism across the state.

New Trains Will Cover These Routes In Kerala

With two services from Kollam to Thrissur and Tirunelveli, as well as proposals to expand the Thrissur route to Guruvayur, Vande Bharat trains will run throughout Tamil Nadu and Kerala. More lines would provide easy access to both well-known and lesser-known cities by connecting Thiruvananthapuram to Ernakulam and Guruvayur to Madurai. Officials hope expanding the network, will attract more tourists and local companies. And this in turn will establish tourism services, as reported by Mathrubhumi English.

Kollam, a region renowned for its backwaters, woods, hills, and coastline, is predicted to see an increase in tourism as a result of the new services. There will be stops at Kollam for the Kollam-Thrissur, Kollam-Tirunelveli, Guruvayur-Madurai, and Ernakulam-Thiruvananthapuram trains, which will bring visitors closer to the culturally diverse area. Certain routes, such as those to Madurai and Tirunelveli, will cross the ancient Kollam-Shenkottai line, which travels through picturesque scenery and thick forests.

From Prices To Challenges Of Vande Bharat Aka Namo Bharat Trains

To make travel easier and more economical, Indian Railways has reduced the cost of the Vande Bharat trains. The minimum fare, GST included, is ₹30. Season tickets are available for a week or a month, and monthly passes, which have a 20-trip limit, are a good deal for regular travellers. For trips between 100 and 250 kilometres, Vande Bharat trains, also called Namo Bharat, are built for efficiency and speed. They provide easy deceleration and rapid acceleration. These trains can accommodate Kerala’s varied terrain and travel requirements, and adding short stops at a few minor stations won’t significantly reduce their efficiency.

The Vande Bharat services will increase connectivity even though smaller stations have infrastructure issues. To encourage the growth of regional tourism, railway officials suggest establishing stops at smaller stations like Thenmala, as reported by Mathrubhumi English. In addition to improving accessibility to locations like Manrothuruthu along the Kollam-Kayamkulam route, this could increase tourism in places like Thenmala and Aryankavu.
