Kolkata-Bound Alliance Air Flight Returns Midway To Guwahati Airport After Technical Snag; All Passengers Safe

An Alliance Air flight bound for Kolkata had to return to Guwahati midway after a technical snag was discovered. A full-scale emergency situation was alarmed at Lokpriya Gopinath Bordoloi International Airport on Wednesday. Fortunately, all passengers were reported safe. Here’s more on this. 

Kolkata-Bound Air Alliance Flight Faces Technical Snag Mid-Air 

As per a report by Hindustan Times, a Kolkata-bound Alliance Air flight was forced to return to the Lokpriya Gopinath Bordoloi International Airport on Wednesday, August 20. Reportedly, a technical snag was detected mid-air. Authorities immediately enforced a ‘full-scale emergency’ at the Guwahati airport at 1:42 pm following the diversion.

The crew and passengers were reported safe. An airport spokesperson told HT that the passengers were provided with necessary support upon landing. The airline also arranged alternative flights to minimise inconvenience. LGBIA’s terminal operations team was also present at the scene to assist the waiting passengers.

Flight Landed Safely Back At The Guwahati Airport 

According to the same report, the flight took off from Guwahati airport at 1:09 pm and was on its way to Kolkata. The flight landed safely back at the airport at 2:27 pm, and the emergency was withdrawn at 2:40 pm. The airline extended all the necessary support and ensured passengers faced minimal disruption. Reportedly, the incident did not have any impact on other flight operations at the airport.

All other scheduled flights continued operating normally without any delays. With several incidents like this surfacing in recent times, the importance of strict checks on aircraft has become even more crucial. Despite the technical snag, the crew managed to bring the flight back safely to Guwahati airport while following all the required precautionary measures. The exact cause of the technical snag has not been revealed so far. Authorities are still awaiting further details.

The swift response of the crew managed to bring the aircraft back to the airport without any harm to the passengers.
