All About Kolkata Literature Festival
The International Kolkata Book Fair is one of Asia’s largest literary events. Ever since its inception in 1976, the festival has been celebrating the region’s vibrant literary heritage. And to make this book fair even more special, the Kolkata Literature Festival is returning to Boimela Prangan with its 9th edition!
The Kolkata Literature Festival is also probably the only lit fest that is held within a large book fair. This lit fest started as an endeavour to cater to the growing number of book lovers and bring them closer to their favourite authors. Now, it has also grown to open up doors for international literature.
From the presence of stalwarts of Bengali literature like the late Nirendranath Chakraborty and Sankha Ghosh to international Man Booker-shortlisted author Graeme Macrae Burnet and Val McDermid, Kolkata Literature Festival has hosted some of the biggest names in the literary world in the past editions. And this edition will be no different!
Things To Look Out For At This Year’s Edition
The 9th Kolkata Literature Festival will host authors like Shirshendu Mukhopadhyay, Nathalie Handal, Prabal Kumar Basu, Tridib Kumar Chatterjee, Ayantika Chakraborty, and many more celebrated authors from India and abroad. There will be poetry sessions, meet-ups, and literary discussions with these authors. Also, every day, the literature festival has a musical ending. So, you can catch orchestra performances, dance, and musical performances during the Kolkata Literature Festival as well.
