Bangkok-style street food carts will soon make their way into the lively streets of Kolkata, bringing an exciting and flavorful twist to the city’s food scene. Embracing the fusion of two vibrant food cultures, Kolkata’s street food scene will soon become a delightful and delicious adventure.

The Kolkata Municipal Corporation (KMC) is actively planning to establish food streets inspired by Bangkok street food hubs across different parts of the city. Locations such as New Market, the south gate of Victoria Memorial, Millennium Park, and Prinsep Ghat have been chosen for the setup, reported GetBengal.

The reports also state that hawkers will offer a variety of iconic street food items. Customers will have the opportunity to select from a wide range of time-appropriate food options, spanning breakfast to lunch. The stalls will be designed by skilled professionals, with a strong emphasis on cleanliness.

The KMC has appointed consultants to establish food streets and is preparing to collaborate with the All India Institute of Hygiene and Public Health (AIIH & PH) to educate street food vendors. They plan to educate them about cleanliness and safety practices.

Reports also say that they will closely monitor food item prices. These endeavours aim to attract more tourists, both domestic and international, to the city, similar to Bangkok’s successful approach.

Bangkok is known for its bustling street food carts that attract everyone. Tourists often indulge in Thai street food in Bangkok to catch a glimpse of the country’s cooking traditions. This is due to the city’s diverse range of offerings and abundance of street vendors.

Street food holds significant importance in many cultures around the world. They also serve as an essential aspect of local identity and heritage. Street food vendors often showcase traditional recipes and cooking techniques passed down through generations. Moreover, street food provides convenient and affordable meal options for locals and tourists alike.
