Titled “Bari Bindu,” intricately designed by artist Bhabatosh Sutar, offers an immersive experience that harmonizes traditional elements with a contemporary message. The organisers of this year’s salt lake Durga Puja at AK Block recognised the urgency of these issues and decided to create a theme. The festivities take on a significant environmental theme focused on rainwater conservation, particularly at Salt Lake’s AK Block. With a budget of ₹75 lakh, the immersive pandal aims to raise awareness about water conservation while still embracing the traditional essence of the festival.
The pandal at AK Block promises to be a feast for the senses. The theme “Bari Bindu”, which translates to “Drops of Rain,” encapsulates the essence of water. In a remarkable innovation, the sound of water droplets on various containers and surfaces has been masterfully used to recreate the traditional soundscape of Pujor Dhaak, the rhythmic beats of the drum that accompany the festivities. These raindrops harmonise with the traditional dhak beats. They create a captivating auditory experience that transports visitors into a serene and reflective space.
Additionally, this initiative reflects a growing awareness among citizens about the need for sustainable practices in an age of environmental crisis.
