The much-anticipated Navakerala bus service between Kozhikode and Bengaluru began in May this year. However, over the last couple of weeks, the bus service has seen minimal to no passengers. This has now caused the suspension of the bus on the route for a week now. Although, the authorities have maintained that the suspension of the bus service is for maintenance purposes.

According to a Kerala Kaumudi report, the services have been parked due to low passenger traffic. A similar suspension of the Kozhikode-Bengaluru Navakerala bus happened earlier this month as well when the service was halted for two days.

The Kozhikode-Bengaluru Navakerala bus has 26 push-back seats and its ticket costs ₹1,171. The bus offers amenities like a toilet, hydraulic lift, washbasin, television, music system, mobile charger, and luggage storage for the passengers. All in all, it is the perfect bus to travel between the two cities. However, as per an Onmanorama report, the inconvenient schedule of this bus has caused it to lose its popularity.

As per the report, the bus departs from Kozhikode at 4 AM. This means passengers have to travel quite early in the morning to make it on time. Furthermore, the bus scheduled to arrive in Bengaluru by 11:30 AM doesn’t make it to the terminal before noon. The return journey, which is supposed to begin at 2:30 PM from Bengaluru and reach Kozhikode by 10 PM, is also hardly on schedule. Commuters have complained that the bus never reaches Kozhikode before midnight due to traffic. This has caused the bus service to lose passengers.
