One of the easiest available modes of transportation in India is bus. Buses are a highly valued and well-liked means of transportation. They often get to locations that no other form of transit can. In order to give commuters more options and quicker service, the bus system is constantly being developed and expanded. The new bus service that Karnataka plans to implement is one such instance. The Karnataka State Road Transport Corporation (KSRTC) has recently announced a new bus service from Bengaluru to Nilakkal (Sabarimala pilgrimage’s base point).

The New Bengaluru-Sabarimala Bus Service By KSRTC

Between Nilakkal, the starting point of the Sabarimala pilgrimage in Kerala, and Bengaluru, KSRTC has announced a new Volvo bus service. Therefore, the bus service aims to offer a more convenient means of transportation to pilgrims travelling to Sabarimala.

Additionally, a press release states that the Volvo bus service will start on November 29, 2024. From Bengaluru’s Shanthinagar Bus Station, the bus will leave at 1:50 PM and arrive in Nilakkal by 6:45 AM the next day. While the return trip is scheduled to depart at 6 PM and reach Bengaluru by 10 AM the next day, as reported by The Hindu. A ticket costs ₹1,750 for each passenger for a one-way trip.

In Karnataka, 31 districts and southern towns, are served by the state-owned Karnataka State Road Transport Corporation (KSRTC). Kerala, Tamil Nadu, Telangana, Andhra Pradesh, Goa, Maharashtra, and the Union territory of Puducherry are all connected to the state by this route.

KSRTC has played a major role in meeting the expectations of Kannadigas and others living in neighbouring states.

The company had 19 divisions as of March 31, 1997, including two divisions for city services in Bangalore. It also included a central office in Bangalore, two regional workshops, and 108 depots.
