Is social media a boon or bane? Well, this debate is an endless one! When we see people scrolling aimlessly and wasting their time on it, losing real connections, we feel it’s a bane. But many times, it has proved to be a blessing with the right use. The latest example of this is when a KSRTC night bus broke down near Charmadi Ghat. Passengers received help at midnight after one of them tweeted about it!

KSRTC Bus Breaks Down Near Charmadi Ghat

Around nine o’clock on Sunday night, a bus carrying all of its passengers from Dharmasthala in Dakshina Kannada to Mundargi in Gadag broke down close to Charmadi Ghat. For more than two hours, the passengers tried to call the KSRTC helpline without success.

Raghu, @Raghu08743924, a passenger, tweeted about the scenario at the end on X (formerly known as Twitter). He added that a bus breakdown near Charmadi Ghat left 78 passengers stranded. The bus left Dharmasthala and malfunctioned close to the ghat area.

He asked for assistance because there weren’t any other buses traveling this route at the moment. Additionally, he shared a photo of passengers who had left the bus because it was overloaded and were now sprawled out on the sides of the road. (As per The New Indian Express)

Promise of Speedier Response

In response to Raghu’s tweet, KSRTC requested more information. In response to the post, TNIE also called KSRTC representatives in Bengaluru, who then spoke with the Puttur-based KSRTC Divisional Controller (DC).

DC Puttur According to Jaikar Shetty, the passengers would be picked up by the breakdown bus and transported to their destination. The bus would carry on because the driver had already arrived at Dharmasthala and caught a different bus.

When contacted, Transport Minister R. Ramalinga Reddy promised to engage with the relevant parties to guarantee a speedier response in the event of emergencies or breakdowns. He also promised to see to it that helpline numbers are posted on buses so that passengers do not become alarmed.  (As per The New Indian Express)
