The Karnataka State Road Transport Corporation (KSRTC) has introduced 20 more Ambari Utsav sleeper buses to make travel more comfortable for the passengers. They have also introduced an online payment option for the Kodagu district, making it more convenient for travellers. Read on to know all the latest updates.

KSRTC Adds 20 More Ambari Utsav Sleeper Buses To Its Fleet

KSRTC has doubled its Ambari Utsav sleeper buses fleet recently on key routes. They have added 20 more buses, bringing the total number up to 40 now. Ambari Utsav buses are popular for their premium and innovative features and are specially designed for long-distance travel. According to The Times of India, with this expansion, KSRTC hopes to enhance connectivity within Karnataka and neighbouring states.

KSRTC’s Ambari Utsav sleeper buses were first introduced in 2023. They have become quite popular as they can accommodate 40 passengers in one trip and offer a 2×1 berth configuration for a comfortable travel experience. Besides ample space, the buses are equipped with USB and C-type charging ports, Fire Detection and Suppression System for enhanced safety and all the modern facilities.

These new buses will connect major cities like Bengaluru, Kundapura, and Mangaluru. They will offer direct services to Bengaluru International Airport. Furthermore, they will also provide interstate connections to cities like Nellore, Hyderabad, Vijayawada, Ernakulam, Thrissur, and Kozhikode.

Cashless Commute Now Possible For Kodagu

In November, the Karnataka State Road Transport Corporation adopted the UPI payment option for purchasing tickets to major cities including Bengaluru and Mysuru. Recently, the online payment service was introduced for Kodagu district as well. The authorities have equipped the buses with advanced Electronic Ticketing Machines (ETMs). The devices support various payment methods, including UPI, debit, and credit cards.

KSRTC also noted a significant rise in public bus ridership recently. As per the state’s Transport Department, the State-run transport corporations recorded an average increase of 23.17 lakh passengers daily since the launch of the Shakti Scheme. Before the scheme was introduced, the daily ridership was around 93.4 lakh. It has now reached 116.6 lakh passengers.
