Kurla Bus Accident: RTO Officials Suspect Human Error & Lack Of Proper Training Caused The Tragic BEST Bus Accident

We are disheartened to hear the heart-wrenching news of the recent Brihanmumbai Electricity Supply and Transport Undertaking (BEST) bus accident in Kurla West’s Bhaji Market. On November 9 at around 9:50 PM, an electric bus crushed several vehicles and pedestrians on the S G Barve Marg. Police began investigating the accident and registered an FIR against the driver. What triggered the devastating incident on Monday? Here’s what the officials think.

RTO Officials Shared Details About The Kurla Bus Accident

Taking to the X platform, Tabrej Khan (Rajput) 🇮🇳 (@tabrej) shared videos of the alarming bus accident near Anjum-e-Islam school in Kurla.

According to information shared by officials, at least seven people died due to the bus fatally ramming into vehicles and walkers in that area. More than 40 people have suffered from injuries. On Monday night, the driver hit around 30 vehicles and many people crashed into the RCC column of the Solomon Building and damaged the wall.

A probe has been conducted to identify the reason behind the horrifying bus accident. The Regional Transport Office (RTO) officials stated necessary information about the tragic crash. A report by the RTO revealed that they suspect human error caused the life-threatening accident.

RTO officials investigated right after the bus collision and they think that Sanjay More, the driver did not have enough experience to control and drive an automatic transmission bus without any clutch and gear, according to a report by India Today. The officials shared about suspecting “human error” and “lack of proper training”. They also pointed out that Sanjay might not have received the right training to manage this electric BEST bus.

Police Arrested The Bus Driver

An FIR was lodged against Sanjay More. On December 10, he was produced before the court, according to several reports. Initially, the concerned officials thought the driver lost control of the bus and brake failure was the reason behind the bus knocking down vehicles and pedestrians. However, they found out that the bus was in fine condition. Later, police officials arrested the bus driver.
