Kuwait recently made a landmark decision regarding the expats in the Gulf Cooperation Council nations. Yes, according to the new regulation, foreign nationals who are residents in the GCC nations can now obtain their tourist visa-on-arrival. According to the Ministerial Resolution No. 1386 of 2025, expats in the GCC nations can now apply for a visa-on-arrival in Kuwait. This was signed by Sheikh Fahad Yousef Saud Al-Sabah, the First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior. As per the report, the news was first published in Kuwait Alyoum, which is the official gazette. Taking immediate effect, applicants must, however, hold a valid passport and residence permit for a GCC member state. So, this means they must be residents with official documents either in the United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, Qatar, or Oman. Additionally, they must be valid for six months.

How Is This Beneficial?

Once the applicants hold all the necessary documents, they will be granted the visa at the ports of entry across Kuwait. Aligning with the Decree Law No. 114 of 2024, which concerns the residency of foreigners, the move aims to boost tourism. Not to mention, it will also facilitate travel for expats in the Gulf. As a result, it’s bound to strengthen and tie regionally.
