Lakshadweep’s Dweep Halwa Is Similar To Bengal’s Narkel Gur’er Naru Yet Different; Recipe Inside

Dweep Halwa

Every Indian has thronged the tropical archipelago of Lakshadweep. This surge was after our PM urged Indians to explore the tranquil lands and beaches of Lakshadweep. Relax with some flaky octopus fries and sip on a yummy Piña Colada! While you are engaged in creating your itinerary for Lakshadweep, do not skip out on this sweet delicacy, Dweep Unda or Dweep Halwa! It is said to be one of their traditional sweets. But were you aware that Dweep Halwa is strikingly similar to West Bengal’s Naru, especially the Narkel Gur’er Naru?

Debate: Is It Dweep Halwa Or Narkel Gur’er Naru?

Dweep Halwa and Narkel Gur’er Naru are both delicious and lip-smackingly good. Narkel Gur’er Naru is also made with coconut and jaggery. Once the mixture is prepared, it is made into small balls and that’s it. It is not put in any dried leaf. Oh, the joy of enjoying warm balls of jaggery-flavoured shredded coconut! You cannot stop but pop a couple of narus in your mouth. So, both these sweet delicacies are the same yet different! Remember that the location and the cultures changed but the original dish and the emotions behind remained the same. Hence the change in names.
