A travel influencer recently flew to Pakistan with her friend. However, it wasn’t the landscape or the local food that surprised her the most—it was the absence of women in public spaces. Sharing a reel on her Instagram handle, the travel influencer showed different parts of Pakistan’s capital Islamabad; from the airport to the market, yet she couldn’t find women strolling on the streets, unlike in most other nations. Here’s more about her experience.
Absence Of Women In Public Spaces In Pakistan Shocks Travel Influencer
Travel content creator with Instagram handle @princesapolynesia or Za had quite an unusual experience with her friend in Pakistan. In her viral Instagram reel, she asked in her caption, “Where my sisters at?” She intended to ask the women of the city about their whereabouts as their absence in public spaces in Islamabad was shocking to her. Furthermore, Za mentioned that the ratio of women to men was 1:50 in the city.
Her reel featured Islamabad Airport, bustling market areas and other various travel attractions in the city at different times of the day. “It’s Raining Men” by The Weather Girls played cheekily in the background of her reel to depict the glaring presence of men in the city as passengers, shopkeepers, drivers and tourists were unmissable, in relation to Za and her friend being the only women seen, at least in her reel.
Netizens Have Mixed Reactions After Watching The Reel
In no time, her post glared momentum, and users flooded the comments section to share their opinions. Many Instagrammers questioned the travel influencer on why she visited Pakistan in the first place. A person asked her why she travelled to the nation voluntarily. Another person asked her to be careful during her trip and return home safely.
Pakistani model and influencer Shahnam Aslam asked the travel influencer to visit niche areas in Islamabad or visit Karachi and Lahore instead, to meet women. She assured Za that unlike what many were commenting, women were neither at home nor in the basement. One needs to visit other cities in Pakistan instead.

Another Instagrammer said that Pakistani women like to hang out at classy places like cafes, malls, restaurants and libraries. A person even joked that the reason for the absence of women in places she visited was because they were busy shopping.
