Lin Laishram Has Travel Reccos From Tourists Flying To Manipur

While chatting with Kamiya Jani, Randeep Hooda and Lin Laishram spoke about their unique and culturally rich Manipuri wedding. The conversation was peppered with fun anecdotes. And since we are a food and travel platform, how can we let Lin Laishram go without asking travel recommendations in Manipur?

While gorging on an authentic Manipuri spread, Lin Laishram recommended travellers visit Loktak Lake and Sendra, a cluster of elevated islands. She further suggested that if tourists drive out of Imphal city, they can come across plenty of picnic spots. Manipuris are nature worshippers, so they worship forests before they enter them. “Even if we go for a picnic, we first make offerings to the forest or river God. So we are very nature-focused,” explains Lin.

The Trio Enjoyed Chakhao Kheer Or Black Rice Kheer

Lin also introduces Kamiya to a variety of Manipuri dishes. Apart from a delicious Manipuri thali, they also gorge on Chakhao Kheer or kheer made of black rice. The celebrity explains that it’s also called ‘Forbidden Rice’ as it was only consumed by royalty. Randeep interjected that when his parents witnessed the distinct purple-black-hued rice for the first time, they asked surprised, “What is that?” almost shocked. It was called “Forbidden Rice” as it was earlier unaffordable to the general public. But now, it’s quite commonly found and consumed in Manipur.
