If you love Dishoom, the London-based Indian restaurant that has become a global sensation, then get ready for some exciting news. The iconic eatery is reportedly closing in on a site in New York, with a potential opening in 2026. That’s right, Dishoom could soon be bringing its smoky grills, buttery naan rolls, and fragrant biryanis to the USA. And if you were one of the lucky ones who experienced their sold-out pop-up at Pastis in NYC last year, you already know why this is such a huge deal.
Dishoom Could Be Coming To New York
Dishoom has revolutionised Indian dining in the UK since it opened in Covent Garden in 2010. Each of their locations honours Bombay by showcasing its vibrant street food, Irani cafés, and chaotic charm. After years of exploring potential US locations, Dishoom’s team has now decided to target New York.
According to The Caterer, CEO Brian Trollip recently shared that he was just in NYC, checking out a potential space, and they’re keen to make an offer. If everything goes according to plan, New Yorkers may soon be enjoying okra fries and keema pau. It would not only be a huge moment for Indian cuisine in the United States but also a momentous occasion for Dishoom.
New York already has a lot of excellent Indian restaurants, but Dishoom’s arrival could make a big difference. New Yorkers are going to fall in love with the comforting Chole Bhatura, smoky Gunpowder Potatoes and chewy, charred naan rolls. Their pop-up at Pastis was packed, proving that the city is more than ready for Dishoom’s arrival.

New York, Get Ready!
Trollip has hinted that, if everything falls into place, the opening will be in late 2026, The Caterer reported. While that may feel like a long wait, Dishoom’s meticulous approach to expansion means it’ll be worth every second. As we count down the days, waiting for the new outlet, we will just have to make their famous Black Daal at home. The die-hard fans can also arrange a trip to London to get their fix.
Dishoom is so much more than a restaurant. This Indian restaurant in London (and soon in NYC) offers an experience, a community, and a warm hug in the form of food. If it does make it to New York, expect long lines, incredible flavours, and a whole new generation of Dishoom fans.
