Londoners love their watering holes. The neighbourhood pubs offer solace after a tiring day of work, where they can catch up with their buddies, sip craft brews and let their hair loose. A beloved Irish pub, McGlynn’s At King’s Cross in Central London may soon shut down after the death of its landlord.

McGlynn’s In Central London May Shut Down

According to a report by MyLondon, McGlynn’s pub served its last pints of beer on Thursday, September 7. The staff revealed to MyLondon that they weren’t shutting down the watering hole permanently. But they will temporarily close it until the family find someone new to operate it. The staff member revealed to the news portal that they don’t have a reopening date yet. But unlike other pubs in the city, McGlynn’swill not be turned into flats. So, Londoners can let out a sigh of relief.

Nestled on Whidbourne Street, very close to Kings Cross, Euston and St Pancras stations, this Irish pub is located in a buzzing street. The landlord, Gerry Dolan passed away in August. Ever since then, the family has been actively looking for someone to take over so the pub can be retained in the long run. This news was announced on X (formerly Twitter) by  Labour councillor for King’s Cross, Jonathan Simpson.

McGlynn’s, often regarded as one of the city’s best-kept secrets often adorns the itineraries of tourists from across the world. The neighbourhood Irish pub is known for its refreshing cask ales, classic dishes and a cute cat, the unofficial brand ambassador of the place.

In no time, Londoners took to X to express their disappointment in the closing of McGlynn’s.
