Since 2012, Thrihnukagigur has been open for visitors to explore its magma chamber through guided tours. The descent involves being lowered around 120 metres (394 feet) down into the volcano using an open cable lift system. The journey to the bottom takes about 6-7 minutes, offering stunning views of the colourful interior walls.

Once at the bottom of the magma chamber, visitors are treated to the surreal sight of enormous and beautifully coloured rock formations. The walls of the chamber display a mesmerising array of mineral deposits in shades of red, orange, yellow, and blue, created by various elements in the volcanic rock. The guided tours into the volcano adhere to strict safety protocols. The volcano is considered dormant, meaning there is no ongoing volcanic activity, making it safe for visitors to explore.
